Obituary for Archie McKellar

McKELLAR, Archie

In loving memory of a dear husband, father and friend who passed away peacefully on April 8, 2022. No matter how life changes, no matter what we do, a special place in our heart will always be with you. Beloved husband of Pauline McKellar (nee Cote), devoted and cherished father to Marlene Bastien. Archie will be missed my many sisters and brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews and friends. Archie was predeceased by his parents, Archie and mother Rose, and son-in-law, Ron Bastien. Archie served in the Royal Canadian Navy from 1963-1967. He loved talking about his “Navy Days” and collecting navy and military memorabilia. Archie enjoyed visiting antique stores, designing wood crafts, watching movies, working out in the gym and playing the bag pipes. Archie worked at Inco in Port Colborne from 1967-1972. He worked as a sheer operator at Welland Forge from 1972-2006. After retirement (2006-2020) he became an active member of the Welland Legion Br. #4 Dart League. The family would like to thank the staff at Hotel Dieu Shaver and Chaplain Sister Louise for the outstanding care and compassion. Keeping with Archie's wishes, a private service and interment will be taking place. In lieu of flowers a contribution to the Diabetes Association or a tree planting would be appreciated by the family. Arrangements entrusted to Considerate Cremation & Burial Services, 26 Nihan Drive, St. Catharines (between Lake Street & Scott Street), 289-362-1144. Online condolences may be made at CCBSCares.ca
