GOLOB, Barry Allen
Passed away peacefully in the presence of his wife and son on Saturday, February 11, 2023 at the age of 68. Cherished husband of Linda for 27 years. Loving father of Justin, Rachel and Mackenzie. Oldest son of Lois and the Late John Golob. Caring stepfather to George Sward (Ashley Ellsworth), Brian Sward and loving Grandpa Bear to Colin, Connor, Carson and Camden Sward. Sadly, missed by his brothers Randy (Tricia), Gregory (Patricia Rocco), sister-in-law Lorraine Drouin and nieces and nephews. Barry was retired from General Motors after 34 years. Always happiest with children, he then enjoyed driving school bus for 6 years. Barry’s lifelong love of basketball began as a high school player, which led to his 30 year coaching career with youth, high school, college and university levels, and ended when he “went over to the darkside” and refereed for 10 years. A love of gardening, camping, reading and cooking (and eating!) filled his spare time. Barry and Linda traveled every year to their special place in Charlestown Beach, Rhode Island where they were married and enjoyed countless happy times with family and friends. The family wishes to express their deep gratitude to the staff at SCGH, Ward 5B for their compassionate care of Barry. In honouring Barry’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Memorial donations to The Parkinson Society Of Canada would be appreciated. A Celebration of Life will be held in April.
