Obituary for David Harold Dalton

DALTON, David Harold

David passed away peacefully at the Hotel Dieu Shaver Hospital on the 26th day of October 2022. He is survived by his loving wife and best friend, Yvonne. He will be sadly missed by his daughters; Lori Pajtasz of St. Catharines and Michelle (Kent) White of Wildwood, Missouri. Dave was predeceased by his daughter, Terri Lynn Dalton. He also leaves grandchildren; Amber and Adrian Pajtasz of Toronto and Natalie and Nicholas White of Missouri and his great granddaughter, Rubi Rose (who was the apple of his eye). Dave is also survived by his brother, Reverend James (Brenda) Dalton of Montreal, sister, Donna Brix of St. Catharines, and sister-in-law Mary Boucher. His little Westie dog, Tessa, misses him already. Dave was born in Ottawa and later moved to St. Catharines as a teenager. He was very proud of his early career as a sheet metal worker. After 35 years he retired from Consumers Gas (now Enbridge). David and Yvonne were avid sports enthusiasts. They would shuffle off to Buffalo to watch their Ottawa Senators hockey team and Sunday afternoon was a must to watch the Buffalo Bills. On Friday nights Dave would rarely miss the St. Catharines Falcons Jr. B hockey games. He was a member of Beechwood Golf Club for over 20 years and later enjoyed his time at the Whiskey Run Club. He spent many happy days at the Whitman Hunt Club, of which he was a member. In his younger days, Dave spent hours working in the pits at the Merrittville Speedway. After his retirement he enjoyed the peacefulness of nature and the comfort of his family at his cottage near Peterborough. Many thanks to the nursing staff at Shaver 2 West for their compassion and care and also to Jennifer from V.O.N. who Dave grew very fond of. Dave was a long-time supporter of the Salvation Army and donations to them would be appreciated. In keeping with Dave’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service for Dave will be held at Considerate Cremation & Burial Services, 26 Nihan Drive, St. Catharines (between Lake Street and Scott Street), 289-362-1144 on Saturday November 5, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. with public visitation being held one hour prior to service from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Victoria Lawn Cemetery.
