Obituary for Deborah "Debbie" Anne Petch

PETCH, Deborah Anne "Debbie"

Passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer on Tuesday February 15th, 2022. Debbie was only 59. Beloved daughter of Anne (Bill) Boyd and John (Joanne) Petch. Predeceased by her “Nanna” Grace Cannella. Wonderful niece to Louie Cannella. She will be missed greatly by her brothers Jerry (Marsha) Petch, Robert Petch, Christopher Petch and her sister/cousin Kathy Moreau. She will be remembered fondly by her stepsister and stepbrothers Kelly (Charlie) Bungard, Kevin (Tina) Boyd and Trevor (Shelley) Fluri. Especially loved by her nieces and nephews Connor (Hillary), Braedon (Vanessa), Dawson (Hawklene), Remi and Emilie. Debbie wanted to thank her friends Leona Zaniol and MaryJo Paxton for all of their love and support throughout the years. Their friendship meant the world to her. She also wanted to thank all the nurses on 5B for their compassionate care during her last weeks. A special thank you to nurse Wayne Barker for staying with Debbie right until the end. The family also wants to thank nurse Andrea Delacruz for taking such wonderful care of Debbie throughout her illness. Debbie traveled to Italy to study in Florence. She moved to the Yukon and lived in Whitehorse for several years with her Uncle Louie. Debbie was an avid cat lover with a special soft spot for cats that needed extra help. She took in feral cats and those with other health issues and gave them a loving home. She was an avid reader and movie enthusiast. Family was very important to Debbie. She loved to share her enthusiasm for scary movies with her niece and nephews. She was a great big sister who loved reading to her brothers every night at bed time and baking for them. Debbie was a very kind hearted person who always went out of her way to get gifts for those she loved. While in the hospital, she managed to get roses for every nurse on her floor to thank them for their wonderful care. Giving back to the ones she loved gave Debbie such joy. Even in death Debbie continued to give by donating organs through the Trillium Foundation. A celebration of life will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations to the animal rescue organization of your choice would be appreciated. In keeping with Debbie’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Arrangements entrusted to Considerate Cremation & Burial Services, 26 Nihan Drive, St. Catharines (between Lake Street & Scott Street), 289-362-1144. Online condolences may be made at CCBSCares.ca
