Obituary for Douglas "Doug" Clayton Snure

SNURE, Douglas Clayton “Doug”

With heavy hearts we announce the passing of our loving father and Papa on Thursday, April 14, 2022, two weeks short of his 83rd birthday. Beloved husband of the late Marion (nee McPherson) (1998) of 32 years. Devoted father of Derrick (Laurie) and Shelly. Caring Papa of Tyler and Hailey. Dear brother of Shirley (Dennis) Braun, Cliff (Linda) Misener, Jim (Fay) Misener and the late Art (and Jackie) Snure. Predeceased by his parents, Fern and Clifford. Doug will be missed by Marion’s family; Marg Grenier, Linda (Ron) Popowich, Doug McPherson and sisters-in-law: Yvette and Ellie; predeceased by Micky (Ron) McPherson, Bob McPherson, Diane Snure, Lou Strippoli, Paul Grenier, and nephews: Wade and Breen Snure. He will be fondly remembered by many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Doug "Dukas" was an avid fan of The Toronto Maple Leafs and NY Yankees. He retired from TRW in 1998 after 32 years of service. Doug was a well-renowned lawn manicurist (when he wasn't pulling pink flamingos out of the grass). He also enjoyed long distance running, cycling, keeping a lint free carpet, walking downtown and photo-bombing wedding photo shoots in Montebello Park. He loved being outdoors and sun-bathing, eating Lindor chocolates (the red ones being his favourite), spending time with family and his cherished grandchildren. Fond sayings of Papa included "Am I speaking Swahili? I only got two hands! Life is a game!" Doug had a strong Christian faith and is now playing euchre in Heaven with family. Many thanks and appreciation to Dr. Chauhan, the staff at Hospice Niagara, NHS-St. Catharines Site and Niagara Ina Grafton Gage Village for taking such good care of our Dad and Papa!

In honouring Doug’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held at Considerate Cremation & Burial Services, 26 Nihan Drive, St. Catharines on Friday, April 22 from 2-4 pm & 7-9 pm. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, April 23 at 11 am (visitation starting at 10 am) at Central Community Church, 680 York Road, Niagara-on-the-Lake. Interment to follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Hospice Niagara or Heart & Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.

Arrangements entrusted to Considerate Cremation & Burial Services, 26 Nihan Drive, St. Catharines (between Lake Street & Scott Street), 289-362-1144. Online condolences may be made at CCBSCares.ca
