It is with profound sadness that we announce the loss of Edward Lowden in his 86th year. Ed passed peacefully, in the presence of family at NHS - St. Catharines Site on February 26, 2022. Loving husband of the late Dolores (2010), father of Randy (Christine), Karen and Leanne Lowden. Step-father of Chris Maybee (Linda), Geoff Maybee (Michelle) and Archie Maybee (Michelle). Papa of Abby, Alex, Brad and Josh. Loving brother of Mary Jacob (Ken), Jackie Boulding (John) and Darlene Claus. Predeceased by his siblings; Elizabeth Eaton (Don), Doug Lowden (Shirley), Jeannette Pacquin (Joe) Tommy Lowden (Mary), Danny Lowden (Karen), Joyce Lowden, Josie Martell (Dwight) and Patsy Lowden. He will be greatly missed by his beloved friend, Lynn Dorion. Ed retired from the Regional Municipality of Niagara, where he worked as a supervisor of Roads Maintenance. He spent many years as a member, and one time president, of the Grantham Optimist Club, proudly serving and helping with youth sports in the community. Ed enjoyed music, curling, golf, pool, cards, and calling Bingo. Ed was often a favourite among the staff and residents of Anchor Pointe Retirement Community as well as his most recent home at Niagara Gardens Senior Living. The family is extremely grateful for the care of Ed at the retirement homes, and from the medical staff in the Niagara Health System. A special thanks is given to the compassionate caregivers on the second floor at the St. Catharines hospital. In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place and a private service will be held at a later date. In his memory, donations to the Niagara Health Foundation would be appreciated.
