REID, Frederick Charles Robert
Passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 17, 2021 in his 90th year. Fred was predeceased by his loving wife, Margaret (nee Rempel), in 1996. His children would describe him as an amazing father; they are Fred (Janet), Donald, Douglas (Terri), Richard (Sue), Caroline (Peter), Sandra (Blake) and the late Robert (1956); his siblings Harvey, Gwen Conklin and Roberta Campbell. He was a loving Papa to 15 grandchildren and a loving Great Papa to 16 great-grandchildren. Fred was a special Uncle and Daddy Fred to many nieces, nephews and their families. He was a favourite brother-in-law and had many friends that called him Derf. His family meant everything to him. He will be sadly missed but fondly remembered for his love of life, his wonderful stories including those about growing up in Niagara-on-the-Lake and many exciting adventures but mostly for his kind soul. Fred was a member of the Canadian Armed Forces having served in the Korean War. He was retired from GM after 18 years of service in 1995. Fred was a proud lifetime member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Br.# 124 in Niagara-on-the-Lake. There are so many to thank for all of the care and support shown to him during his journey in life. A special thank you to all of the Earth Angels that cared for him at Heidehof for many years.
In honouring Fred’s wishes a private family graveside service has taken place with interment. Memorial donations to Heart & Stroke Foundation or The Cancer Society would be appreciated.
