Obituary for Gary Clare Higgins
HIGGINS, Gary Clare
June 3, 1953 – May 28, 2022
With heavy hearts we have to say goodbye to our wonderful brother and uncle. Born in Red Lake, Ontario, later moving to St. Catharines in 1954. Gary graduated from Lakeport Highschool, he worked at Dofasco Sterling Varnish and later as a custodian at NRP in St. Catharines.
Gary is survived by his sisters; Pauline (Win) Hutcheson and Carolyn (Eric) Bradshaw. He was an uncle to Lisa Cairns and Wade VanEvery (Becky), and great-nieces and nephews; Shannon, Erika, Devon, Noah and Griffin. He is predeceased by his parents, Clarence and Ruth, and his nephew Brent VanEvery (Geri).
Gary suffered the better portion of his life with a sever mental illness. Despite it all, our family will always remember his big heart, his great sense of hunour and the caring & loving person that he was. Gary loved working out, practicing Karate and attending church on Sundays.
In honouring Gary’s wishes a private family service has taken place. Memorial donations to Schizophrenia Society of Canada would be appreciated.
