1947-2022
George MacKimmie of St. Catharines (formerly of Southampton) died on December 20 at the age of 75, after a courageous battle with cancer. He will be remembered as a sailor, cyclist and skier who loved adventure and lived life to the fullest. George grew up in St. Catharines, attended the University of Waterloo, and went on to have a successful career as a mechanical engineer with General Tire, Ontario Hydro, and Bruce Power until his retirement in 2002. He is survived by his wife and best friend of 43 years, Judy, daughters Erin and Katie (Mike Guertin), sister Barb Brown (Keith), brother Ian MacKimmie (Terri), and stepsister Barb Schmidt (Brian). He is predeceased by his parents, Robert and Eleanor MacKimmie. In lieu of flowers, donations to Hospice Niagara, the Canadian Cancer Society or the Huntington Society of Canada would be appreciated. In keeping with George’s wishes, cremation has taken place.
