WATSON, Harry Howard
Harry died peacefully on Thursday, February 25, 2021 at the Port Colborne Hospital. He is survived by Myrna, his loving and beloved wife of 62 years. Harry was born and raised in St. Catharines, a lifelong resident and proud “Garden City” boy who served as a professional firefighter with the St. Catharines Fire Dept. for 36 years, retiring in 1989 with the rank of Lieutenant. Many of his lifelong friends are members of that outstanding Brotherhood.
He is survived by his nieces: Susan Hill (Gary), Diane Thom (Charles) and nephew, Philip Watson, and their families, his niece, Lyndsey Watson Bennett, and his cousin, Joseph Savoia.
He was devoted to and dearly loved by his Welsh cousins, Allan George, (now deceased) his wife, Shirley, and their son, Steven, Sandra & Rob Couchman and family and Susan & Derek Sharrod all of Neath, South Wales. Their compassionate and steadfast daily support, throughout this difficult time, so eased an indelible pain. Harry was passionately proud of his Welsh heritage.
Many heartfelt thanks must go to nurse practitioner, Lyndsey, and the superb staff at 2W Port Colborne Hospital for their dedicated, caring and professional attendance while Harry was in their capable hands. It was second to none!
Harry loved his close friends with a passion usually reserved for family ... it was returned many fold. His memory will be cherished in the hearts of those who loved and his name will always be mentioned with those who represent the very best of the International Order Of Firefighters and if kindness, courage, fidelity and humour be virtues, then mentioned with honour.
A memorial service will be held at a post Covid date. If you wish to make a memorial gesture, in lieu of flowers, please direct it to Knox Presbyterian Church, St. Catharines or the YMCA of Niagara, St. Catharines.
Cremation, as Harry wished, is being handled by Considerate Cremation & Burial Services, 26 Nihan Drive, St. Catharines (between Lake Street & Scott Street), 289-362-1144. Online condolences may be made at CCBSCares.ca
