Obituary for James Gibbons "Jimmy" Fraser

FRASER, James Gibbons

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Captain James “Jimmy” Gibbons Fraser of St. Catharines, ON on May 12, 2021 at the age of 82. Predeceased by his wife Isabel, his parents, brothers and sisters. Jimmy leaves behind his loving wife Sandra, his children Lisa (Barry), Jimmy and Lynn. Adored by his grandchildren Danny (Brittany), Jay (Heaven), Kaitlyn, Skye, James, Thomas and Nate as well as six great grandchildren. Very special uncle/father figure to his nephew, Colin. Jimmy was born and raised in Belfast and immigrated to Canada in 1964. Most of his life was spent working “on the boats” and retired from the Great Lakes as a Captain in 2001. Dad was a passionate fisherman as well as a die hard Spurs fan. Everyone who knew “Big Jimmy” loved him as his character was bigger than life. Always one to be first to a party and the last to leave. He will be desperately missed by all. The family would like to thank the amazing nurses and Dr. Scher at Douglas Memorial Hospital who treated Dad with the upmost care and compassion. We cannot thank you enough. As per Dad’s request, in lieu of flowers, please donate to McMaster Children’s Hospital. In keeping with Dad’s wishes and Covid, there will be no funeral. Arrangements entrusted to Considerate Cremation & Burial Services (289-362-1144). Please raise a glass and share your favourite memory of Dad online at CCBSCares.ca Slainte!
