Obituary for Janice Mabel Bivand (Clifford)

BIVAND, Janice Mabel (nee Clifford)

We lost an amazing wife, mother, Grandma, mother-in-law, sister and dear friend on Friday, May 21st at the age of 78. Born in Oakville, in 1942, to Jack and Dorothy Clifford. The family moved to Grimsby while Janice was young where she remained. It was here that she had her first date with her future husband 64 years ago, Donald Bivand, on May 19, 1957. Don would later say he joined Young Peoples at church so he could get to know her better. She leaves a huge void in the lives of her husband, Donald, of 57 years, sister, Carol (Brian) Salmers. her eldest son and close confidant Craig (Diane) and absolute joy and loved her grandson, Albert. Also, son, Jeffery John (JJ) (Betty) and grandkids; Sterling, Justice and Veronica. She will be missed by Don’s extended family. Her passion in life was family and friends and was always ready for a (long) conversation. People would say they always felt better after running into Janice and having a chat. She had a passion for playing Bridge but most likely more of a love for a “Girls” social time. She loved traveling and shopping around the world and discovering anything new. Her best friend Anne Watson has been waiting in heaven for Jan and has her shopping shoes ready to go.
Rest In Peace.
In honouring Janice’s wishes a Celebration of Life will be held when we are permitted to have a gathering. If desired donations to the Juravinski Cancer Centre would be appreciated by the family or simply go out and splurge on yourself or someone you love to a treat and think of Janice. Arrangements entrusted to Considerate Cremation & Burial Services, 26 Nihan Drive, St. Catharines (between Lake Street & Scott Street), 289-362-1144. Online condolences may be made at CCBSCares.ca
