BONNER, Will
Peacefully, at the Shaver Health and Rehabilitation Center in St. Catharines, on Monday, July 18, 2022. Reunited with the love of his life Dorothy (2018) - they were married for 70 years. Proud father of Louise (the late Brent) and Mark (Linda). Cherished grandfather of Warrick, Courtney, Ashley and Ryan and great-grandfather of Jake. Predeceased by his brother Al, Will was an uncle of Timothy.
Will served in the British Navy during World War II. Soon after the war ended, he married Dorothy and they emigrated to Melbourne, Australia where Louise & Mark were born. After 20 years without seeing their family they returned to England in 1969.
Will had many careers including cabinet maker, carpenter, nurse, physiotherapist, TV repairman, electronics engineer, serial entrepreneur and author. Will assisted the British Secret Service with many international missions both during and after the war - many of these stories are documented in his book - “The Reluctant Agent” - published under his pen name Will Brenner.
With Louise & Mark both in Canada, Will & Dorothy emigrated to Niagara Falls in 1988 where they spent the remainder of their lives.
His passion for electronics led to a life-long love of computers. He taught himself how to create and edit videos and was still maintaining his own website up until his passing at the age of ninety-five. His work can be enjoyed at www.agentorspy.com
Will was a “tinkerer” and could always be found tucked away working on something. He had a curiosity and fascination for technology which started as a boy and continued his whole life. Some of his fondest memories were of growing up in the English village of Witherley where he ran through the fields and helped his parents, Albert & Nancy, grow vegetables in their garden.
In keeping with Will’s wishes a private family gathering will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Salvation Army or a charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated by Will’s family.
Arrangements entrusted to Considerate Cremation & Burial Services, 26 Nihan Drive, St. Catharines (between Lake Street & Scott Street), 289-362-1144. Online condolences may be made at CCBSCares.ca
