Obituary for Marian (Marika) Wasyliw

WASYLIW, Marian (Marika)

There is another beautiful angel in Heaven.
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beautiful and dear mother, Marian (Marika) on Thursday, July 14, 2022, six days shy of her 97th birthday. Beloved wife of the late Stephen (1983). Loving mother of Marilyn (Roman), Arlene (Roman) and Doreen (Kerry Sr.). Cherished grandmother (Baba) of Michael, Kristin, Andrea, Lauren, Tania and Kerry Jr.; great-grandmother (Baba) of Lincoln, Kalyna, Elliana and Juliette.
Marian was born in Ukraine and at the age of five immigrated to Canada with her mother and father. They settled in Sudbury where she went to school and later worked at Eaton’s and Income Tax Canada. While living in Sudbury, Marian was very active within the Ukrainian Community the choir “Dnipro”, attending St. Mary’s Ukrainian Church and being involved with helping at the Ukrainian Hall. In 1968 she, her husband and daughters moved to St. Catharines and became involved in the Ukrainian Community.
Marian’s true passion was her love of gardening along with baking. She enjoyed spending time with her three daughters, spending numerous outings shopping at the Fairview Mall. We will always remember her delicate and delicious cabbage rolls, pyrohy and especially her apple pies and chocolate chip cookies; she was a master of them all.
Her family would like to thank the wonderful staff in the Lancaster Park Unit of Henley House for all of their love, compassion and support for our dear mother. They all called her Baba and she loved that.
We will miss you Mom, so much!
Vichnaya Pamyat!
Memorial donations to Humanitarian Aid for Ukraine would be appreciated. Visitation will begin at 10 am followed by a funeral service at 10:30 am on Tuesday, July 19, 2022 at Considerate Cremation & Burial Services, 26 Nihan Drive, St. Catharines (between Lake Street & Scott Street), 289-362-1144. Private family interment will follow at Victoria Lawn Cemetery. Online condolences may be made at CCBSCares.ca
