CHAMBERS, Robert
July 14,1953 - April 03,2023
Sudden Cardiac Arrest …. In his favourite spot, on the couch, in the house he planned and built, looking out his big picture window at the property he worked and designed, his little slice of Heaven, Dad was under his heated blanket, they said he even had a coffee in front of him … One second he was with us, literally the next he was gone. No pain, no struggle, naturally he slid from our world into a world where his hands didn’t hurt, his heart was full and he could enjoy a few adult beverages without a hangover! Robert Chambers leaves behind so many people who regard him as a Best Friend, The Best of the Best, a man who would easily do anything he could to make someone else’s life happier, easier and better. In the past week I have been in his world, met some of his friends, met folks I’ve heard about in conversations at my dinner table … I am so aware that in Dad’s world, friends are family and family are friends. He had a passion for Coca Cola, he was proud of the work he did there. He spoke so highly of the many people he created meaningful relationships with during his 35 year career. His love for his sisters and brother was apparent by the smile he wore every time he shared a update or a memory ... His cousins, were not only blood, but he truly loved them dearly and trusted them fully. Dad was very old fashioned, he was a ”hippie “ and a rocker … and his word was his bond! I am so thankful for the time he gifted back to me and my sons and the friendship he and my Mom rekindled (along with Lorraine too, of course). He had a beautiful friendship with my boys, especially my youngest son, Chris, who he talked to a video chatted multiple times a day … my son has special needs and that never changed the way his Grandpa would talk to him, tease him, question him or bond with him.
I am personally so Thankful for the gift of time together and all the memories we created over the past 6 to 7 years … he promised me he would do his best to be here and he was faithful to that promise and it meant the world to me … I’m so glad I love bombed him and made sure he knew exactly how much I loved him … there is simply never enough time, we always want just one more … my heart is broken for our loss and the loss so many of you have graciously shared.
We invite you to his celebration of life, it will be held on the weekend of May 6th and May 7th
On the 6th a special celebration will be held at his favourite restaurant called Till Death BBQ (5014 Haliburton Lake Road, Eagle Lake, Ontario, K0M 1M0) from 1-4 pm. My Dad loved the food there, and with good reason, I suggest you plan on ordering a traveller meal to go, like Dad did faithfully each week ... he loved supporting local business and he LOVED Joy, Shannon, Dezyree and so many others. A big thank you to the ownership (family) and my Dads good friend Maggie Muggs May Magoo for making this day possible. Maggie you are truly one of a kind!
On Sunday, May 7th, join myself, Jennifer Cameron-Simpson, his special family: Susan Wilson, Dave Noddle, (Fran Chambers) Gary Chambers, Cindy Chambers, Sarah Chambers, Ken Chambers, Mike Chambers Cooper, Dawn Chambers-LeDuc, and Susan Bajona. We are welcoming family from near and far … and friends too … come out, share your stories, enjoy a few good hours at his pride and joy, his home … meet up with family you have not seen in forever, put faces to names on some of the characters you heard about in Dad’s stories and send him off with a smile. This celebration of Dad’s life will begin at 12 and will go till ...?
If you do not have the address and would like to join us please reach out to me via Messenger …
If you are unable to join us, we would love to hear one or two of your favourite stories … or you can share your favourite photos!!!
As per Dad’s conversations, he expressed not wanting a sad funeral, he wanted to be remembered with a smile. He has been cremated and as per his wishes he will join Cindy Walker in their final resting place at Maple Lake United Church Cemetery, the interment will take place at a later date.
Special Thanks to his friends, Corey and Maggie, for looking after Dad when he needed you most. XO
