Obituary for Stephanie Cowell

COWELL, Stephanie-Ann
January 29, 1973 – May 9, 2023

As written by Stephanie.
It’s with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Stephanie-Ann Cowell on Tuesday, May 9, 2023. Surrounded by family she passed peacefully at Hospice Niagara. Stephanie was an RPN that loved to educate and help teach patients, especially her PSW students from DSBN. She was a contributing factor to vaccinating the remote communities of Nunavut (Baffin Island communities). Stephanie will be missed by her family, especially her daughter Courtney Cowell-DeSante, son Christopher Cowell- DeSante and son Carter DeSante, Mom Patricia Cowell (nee Smith), Dad Butch (James) Cowell and sister Jennifer Cowell. Jennifer was her rock and always there when she needed her. Let’s not forget Lilly our cat who started as Carter’s imaginary neighbourhood cat and who is now a real family member. Family was extremely important to Stephanie, and she will be watching over us. In this time of mourning please let us mourn, if we need you, we will reach out. In lieu of flowers please donate to Hospice Niagara, the Juravinski Hospital Foundation or plant a fruit bearing tree for people to enjoy. Thank you to my oncology team at Juravinski, Dr Eiriksson and nurses as well as Dr Shaw and nurses, the team at Hospice Niagara and my palliative NP Lindsay from the hospital. If I have missed anyone thank you. Stephanie’s wishes were to be cremated and to have a celebration of life with a tree planting ceremony. Stephanie has requested a casual event, please wear jeans (Levi’s if you have them) and heels as if we were heading out on the town. Please join us for a celebration of Stephanie’s life on Sunday, May 28, 2023, at 2pm on Henley Island in Port Dalhousie. A tree will be planted in her honour along the Welland Canal parkway in Allanburg at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to Considerate Cremation & Burial Services, 26 Nihan Drive, St. Catharines (between Lake Street & Scott Street), 289-362-1144. Online condolences may be made at CCBSCares.ca
