Obituary for Wilma Adele Berswick (Branson)

BERSWICK, Wilma Adele (nee Branson)

After a loving, well-lived life, Wilma Adele Berswick, age 93 died peacefully on February 5th after finding contentment and good friends at Villa de Rose in Welland since 2016.
Cherished by all who knew her, and consistently described as a kind, compassionate and caring woman, she raised five busy active children in St. Catharines while demonstrating her commitment to her community as a dedicated volunteer with numerous organizations over the years.
Through her actions, she taught her children to love unconditionally, the importance of continuing to read, learn and to be adaptable and flexible in facing life’s challenges. Most importantly, she continually reinforced and modelled the Golden Rule of “Doing unto others as you would have them do unto you”.
Born November 7,1928, she was the oldest child of Thomas and Gladys Madeleine (Madge) Branson raised in Toronto with her now deceased younger brother Thomas (Bud) Branson and sister Brenda Geiger (Lewis).
She was predeceased by her loving partner of 12 years, Joe Barlow, in 2012, and her former husband, Nicholas, in 2016.
Wilma is survived by four children: Randy (LeeLee), Brenda Herchmer (Vince), Kevin (Eva), Nicki Keenliside (Dan) and she was predeceased by her son, David (2020).
She was a proud and loving Nana delighted by her ten biological and inherited grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Grandchildren include William (BJ) Mowat, Chris and Jason Herchmer (Karen), Marisa Muchnik (Ben), Adam (Gaby) Horvath, Kyle and Kurtis Keenliside, and Jessica, Jillian and Callie Berswick. Great-grandchildren include Ethan and Blake Muchnik and Sophia and Madison Herchmer.
Visitation will be held from 7-9 on Thursday at Club Roma, 125 Vansickle Road, St. Catharines, followed by a Celebration of Wilma's Life at 1:00 pm on Friday, February 18th, 2022 also at Club Roma.
