Rudy “Red” Janzen passed away peacefully on January 19, 2021 at age 91. He is predeceased by his eldest daughter Mimi Janzen and survived by his daughter Sue (Paul) and his son Tim (Sharon). Opa is also survived by grandchildren, Shawn, Peter, Catie, Holly, Tamara and Grayson; great-grandchildren Lucas, Laura, Allard, Harland and Sadie. Rudy was a compassionate, hardworking, social gentleman. He loved to help where help was needed and cared a great deal for the Niagara Community. For his 90th birthday, Rudy started up a food drive for Community Care St. Catharines and collected a lot of food! He loved to work and managed a number of careers over his lifetime: car mechanic, construction worker, real estate agent and years of volunteer work. He even received a ‘key to the city’ for feeding and moving marginalized people in Niagara. Rudy will be dearly missed by many.
Due to COVID restrictions there will be no funeral at this time. Donations can be made to Community Care St. Catharines in memory of Rudy “Red” Janzen. Arrangements entrusted to Considerate Cremation & Burial Services, 26 Nihan Drive, St. Catharines (between Lake Street & Scott Street), 289-362-1144. Online condolences may be made at
